About Rotary
In the early 1900's Rotary was founded by Paul Harris on the principle of “meeting regular to enjoy and expand one’s circle of business
and professional acquaintances.” That principle remains true today. Whether you are new to the Danbury area, new to a job or are just looking for
a way to enjoy old friends or meet new ones, Rotary is your connection!
Members of the Rotary Club of Danbury Sunrise represent a cross-section of the community’s business owners, leaders, executives, managers,
political leaders and professionals – people who make decisions and influence policy. Rotarians value community service, high ethical standards
and enjoy relationships with their peers. The Rotary Club of Danbury is just the place to develop and expand personal and professional
relationships. And of course, it is a fun group.
Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs,
known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the
world.
There are over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all
cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the
workplace, and throughout the world.
PolioPlus program

PolioPlus, the most ambitious program in Rotary’s history, is the volunteer arm of the global partnership dedicated to
eradicating polio. For more than 20 years, Rotary has led the private sector in the global effort to rid the world of this crippling disease.
Today, PolioPlus and its role in the initiative is recognized worldwide as a model of public-private cooperation in pursuit of a humanitarian
goal.
Students and Youth
Rotary's programs for students and youth can change the lives of those who participate. Through these programs, young people can
earn scholarships, travel on cultural exchanges, or help a community through a service project.
