What is Rotary?

Rotary International, the world’s oldest service club organization, is made up of some 31,000 clubs in 165 countries.  Its members form a global network of business and professional leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world.

Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s 1.2 million members.  The main objective of Rotary is service - in

the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

R otary’s “Four Avenues of Service”

A simple 24-word test created by Herbert J. Taylor in 1932 and  adopted by Rotary International in 1943, stresses the importance of high ethical standards for all Rotarians.

It asks….”of the things we think, say or do….”

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
